I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12

Our Core Values

This list is just a snapshot into some of the attitudes and practices that we value. These can give you a view into the reasons for things you will hear and see practiced or emphasized at NCCC. These are not “creeds” or “statements of faith” — Our restoration heritage includes rejection of creeds and other non-Biblical statements of faith or practice. These are not “tests of fellowship” or add-ons to the Bible. We believe the Bible is sufficient for all things. These values will change with time as we strive to practice what we read and interpret in the unchanging Word.

Our Core Values

  1. We hold up the importance of the Bible by emphasizing it in adult and children’s classes, in sermons, in small groups, and in counseling.
  2. We value small groups, where relationships are formed and where the lost can be introduced to Christ.
  3. Our weekly assembly of the church includes singing, communion, prayer, giving, reading, encouragement from the Word, and personal testimonies. Our assemblies are participative, and their goal is to build one another up and spur one another on to live lives that are dedicated to God.
  4. We believe that every Christian should practice hospitality and work to build deeper relationships through frequent fellowship opportunities.
  5. We are active in supporting mission efforts around the world, with an emphasis on Spanish speaking missions.
  6. We are committed to passing on God’s Word to our children and future generations through Bible education, application of the scripture, and our own example.
  7. We desire to be in active fellowship with all groups that share our core beliefs.
  8. We value the concept of “Two languages, one church” and strive for unity by frequent fellowship opportunities, by sharing children’s Bible classes, by periodic bilingual services, and by actively trying to keep our practices in harmony.
  9. We understand that God wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. Every Christian should be committed to this mission and actively participate in achieving it.
  10. We believe that all members should aspire to assemble together as often as the church meets.
  11. We acknowledge the God-ordained roles of men and women, and that men take the lead in preaching and teaching in our congregational assemblies. Within this context, we encourage both men and women to participate appropriately in the assemblies, to lead ministries, and be active in all aspects of the church.
  12. We encourage personal times of Bible study, prayer, and meditation.
  13. We encourage one-to-one relationships for the purpose of encouragement, spiritual growth, and maturing.
  14. We believe God answers prayer, and we value times of prayer together.
  15. We encourage every member to be active in ministry, whether by using God-given gifts or by being equipped to serve. We believe that leadership has a responsibility to teach and equip the church.
  16. Our dream is to plant churches, rather than grow to many thousands of members in one location.
  17. In our methods, we believe in setting aside our personal preferences and traditions as necessary so that we can communicate God’s message clearly to newer generations and other cultures. At the same time we desire to be sensitive to those who may need time and further biblical study to adjust to these changes.

Additional Biblical Convictions of our Leadership and Teachers

(Not conditions for fellowship, but required for our leaders and teachers)

  1. We believe that “whoever believes” is a candidate for salvation, that man has free will, and that people are not predestined to be saved or lost.
  2. Although we live in a fallen world, a child is born sinless and pure before God.
  3. Although we believe in the unlimited power of God, we do believe that the manifestation of the Holy Spirit through miraculous gifts to man has ceased, such as speaking in tongues, direct revelations, and the gift of healing.
  4. We believe that the majority of the book of Revelation has already been fulfilled. We believe that the Lord will return unexpectedly, the dead will be raised, the earth will be destroyed, and the saved will live with God forever.
