I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12
What is a Life Group?
1. It’s a group of people who meet together once a week in a more intimate setting with the
focus of growing closer to one another as we strive together to become more like Christ.
Eph. 5:1-2
2. It’s a group of people who “do life” together. You are able to share more intimately
(in confidence) the struggles we all go through as Christians in our daily lives. In sharing
our weaknesses with one another, we are reminded that we are all human and we struggle
everyday to “be holy as Christ is holy”. Lev 19:2
3. It’s a group that prays together. It’s a group that knows the power of prayer and watches
together for God’s answers. 1 Peter 4:7/Eph. 6:18
4. It’s a group of people who can be called upon to serve the Church and others in need; i.e.,
preparing the Lord’s Supper trays for Sunday morning, group service projects like helping
someone move, helping with a ministry or project at the building, the coffee/donut ministry,
etc. Matt. 23:11
5. It’s a group of people who practice hospitality by having other families over to their
homes to get to know them better. We see so many faces on Sunday mornings and sometimes
there’s just not enough time to really get to know the person other than a “hello” in passing.
Acts 2:42-47
6. It’s a group of people who plan events specifically focusing on reaching out to the lost
world. The “fields are white for harvest”. Jn. 4:34-35
7. It’s a group of people who challenge one another to grow in Christ. It allows us to have a
sanctuary away from the day to day pressures and anxieties of life.
If you haven’t signed up for a group yet, take the time to pray about it and take into
consideration which group fits your schedule best as well as which group would meet your
needs or better yet which group would allow you to use your talents to meet the needs of
others.
